HOW TO MAKE MAKI SUSHI

There are two major kinds of traditional Sushi:
Maki Sushi (Sushi rolls) and Nigiri Sushi (rice balls topped with fish).

Maki Sushi recipes

Ingredients for Maki Sushi:   

nori sheets
sushi rice
pickled ginger
wasabi paste

Where to buy:               
• Asian grocers                                    
• Online-Asian grocers (amazon)


Further ingredients:

Sugar, Salt, Rice vinegar, Soy sauce, Sake, Green onions, Avocado, Carotts, Cucumber, Red Pepper, Fish.

These ingredients are available at Asian grocers or supermarkets. You only need small amount of raw fish, prawns a.s.o. Fish should be of best quality and fresh. If you do not favour raw fish you can use smoked salmon or vegetables like cucumber.

Preperation of ingredients:

1. Cook Sushi rice
2. Prepare vegetables. Cut vegetables in thin stripes.
3. Prepare fish

Preparation:

1. Cut seaweed sheets into half
2. Place sheet with rough surface on top on the bamboo mat.
3. Place rice appr. 2 cm wide and 0,5 cm high on the seaweed sheet.
4. But a tiny bit of wasabi paste onto the rice.
5. Place fish in the middle of the rice.
6. Wetten the end of the sheet a bit with water.
7. Roll the sheet with the bamboo mat and "glue" the ends of roll together. Press the roll with the mat.
8. Cut the roll into appr. six pieces. For better results you can wetten the knife with water mixed with vinegar.
